Description (last modified by aj) (diff)

I would like you to support a cheap card reader, the Argos Mini II from Todos.

Since I own one of the readers I may donate it to the project if you show interest in it.

Let me list a web page that mentions the reader in combination with Linux:

http://www.danielnylander.se/2005/08/25/todos-argos-mini-ii-smartcard-reader/

I already tried to follow the instructions but I did not have much sucess on Gentoo, I may try again now that I am running Ubuntu on my notebook.

Do you want to implement support for serial devices, usb devices or both? Do you know if the protocol used to talk to the reader is documented? (For the usb devices: if they implement the ccid standard that would be all we need to know, but the website doesn't mention "CCID" or "driverless install".)

I have an old argus mini, and there is an open source driver for it by jim reese, so we could implement support for argus mini serial if anyone finds the time. no idea about the other devices.

If the device is usb and ccid - I guess - then simply install openct and opensc, and edit /etc/openct.conf, add the usb vendor/product id in the ccid section, and restart the init script. if it works, also edit the udev config so hotplugging works. please let us know if it works or not, and what the product/vendor id of your device is.
